Tickets into a late bar or nightclub will need to be purchased an hour in advance, as part of new guidelines for the sector.

Its expected the regulations will be passed this week, despite pleas from the pubs and clubs sector for a two week grace period.

Clubs and pubs that allow dancing will have to roll out a ticketing system.

Michael O'Donovan from the Vintners Federation of Ireland owns the Castle Inn in Cork, a pub which serves food and has a late licence. He's concerned about the logistics of a ticketing system.

"People will be in enjoying early evening meals, they might stay for a few drinks.  Are now being put in a scenario where we'll have to at 11o'clock as them to leave, buy a ticket and come back at 12 o'clock?"

No congregating outside of venues, however queueing will be allowed.

This has led to industry sources to question how this will be policed

A two-week grace period has been requested by the sector, however it looks likely the government will pass regulations this week.
