Healthcare providers from around the world will aim to lure Irish Nurses and Doctors abroad at a jobs fair taking place at the RDS today.

Exhibitors from the UK, Australia and Canada will take part in the event.

There are calls for a dedicated strategy to keep Irish nurses and doctors working here.

Stephen McLarnon, Chief Executive of Health Sector Jobs says there are a number of issues facing Irish healthcare workers in deciding their future in the profession:

"Overcrowding is still a big issue and the reality is that the hospitals are under resourced. Pay restoration is one thing - staffing levels and overcrowding are two big issues that nurses complain about. Probably the biggest issue that we hear all the time is how they're treated, and the respect their given for the job they do"
