Work is to begin on Dublin's O'Devaney Gardens site this month, that's set to deliver over a thousand homes.
It follows a failed attempt by a group of city councillors to scrap the development agreement with developer Bartra.
Councillors will get an update on the project this morning that includes 1,047 homes, that will be mostly apartments. They will be built in blocks ranging from 2 to 14 storeys.
Site preparation works will start this month on the former flat complex near the Phoenix Park that will include a mix of 50 per cent social and affordable units and 50 per cent private.
There had been calls for the deal with Bartra to be scrapped after an Bord Pleanála changed an earlier ruling that would have blocked the developer from selling half the homes to institutional investors.
Meanwhile councillors are also to be told that plans for more than 853 apartments and houses at Oscar Traynor Road in Santry are to be submitted in November.
Construction is expected to begin at the end of next year.
