The Government has chosen a group of companies to help it build hundreds of new homes.
The Comhar consortium will start work straight away on 534 homes in Dublin, Louth, Kildare and Wicklow.
It's the first time social housing will be built through a Public-Private Partnership scheme.
Ayrfield in Malahide will be home to the biggest development in the project, with 150 houses.
That will be followed by 109 homes at Corkagh Grange in South Dublin, and 70 at Scribblestown in Finglas.
Housing Minister, Eoghan Murphy, described the Public-Private Partnership scheme as an "innovative way of delivering social housing".
The Comhar consortium is 100% owned by Macquarie Capital Group Ltd. and supported by John Sisk & Son (Holdings) Ltd., Choice Housing and Oaklee Housing.
Brendan Kenny, Assistant Chief Executive, Dublin City Council, said:
"It is important that new and innovative approaches to increasing social housing supply are developed".
"Dublin City Council were excited to participate in this pilot Public Private Partnership programme", he said.
