DIY chain Woodie's has reversed a decision to not allow children under 16 in their stores.
Ahead of the shops being reopened tomorrow, the company announced on Friday that children would not be permitted.
Woodie's said workers had "expressed concerns that social distancing is much harder to adhere to with children in our stores".
However, the move received a strong response on social media - with some expressing concern over the potential impact on single parents.
In an update on Saturday night, the firm rowed back on the initial decision.
They said: "Under-16s are welcome in our stores when accompanied by an adult.
"However, where possible, we would still encourage customers to shop on their own."
Woodie's added they "do not want anyone to feel excluded and [we] look forward to a day when family groups can again shop together."
Karen Kiernan from the single parents' advocacy group One Family welcomed the move, saying "we believe they've listened to the public and their customers".
