The weather is expected to improve slightly over the coming weeks.
We're being warned to expect unsettled conditions for the next few days, however that is set to get better into next week.
Average temperatures are normal for this time of the year, but it has been significantly colder along the west coast.
Alan O'Reilly from Carlow Weather explains why we've had this spell of unsettled conditions.
"The high pressure has been too far out in the Atlantic with the low pressure to the north of us really keeping it at bay.
"That does look like it might slowly start to change as we head into the weekend and next week.
"Certainly, the low pressure systems are going to dominate for another couple of days and that's what is really been keeping us in this very unsettled spell of weather that we've had."
