Without proper planning Dublin city centre could become like San Francisco and just a place for rich people.
That's according to Technology Editor with the Irish Independent Adrian Weckler, who says the tech boom is turning the capital into a two-tier city.
He says tech firms like Twitter, Facebook and Linked In are offering thousands of highly paid jobs;
"It's not that unusual to be earning €90,000, €100,000, €110,000 so that when you're coming up, you're looking at a rent say for example of €2,500, €2,800 for a two-bed, that's an irritant but it's absolutely affordable."
He says to the rest of us, to ordinary workers, that's "absolutely out of sight."
Adrian Weckler says if we don't plan in the near future the likes of Dublin city, between the canals, is going to become like San Francisco.
He says there are almost a thousand properties in the city area available for sale on daft.ie at the moment but only nine three-bed houses under €350,000.
