Roscommon saw the highest temperature in the country yesterday at 26.8 degrees as the warm weather continues.

Elsewhere Met Éireann's weather station at Casement Aerdrome in Dublin recorded 25.7 degrees.

While Roches Point in Cork had the lowest at just under 18 degrees.

The warm weather conditions will stay with us for the weekend. Temperatures are expected to range from 20 to 25 degrees across the country.

However it will be a little cooler in Dublin, especially closer to the coast.

Alan O’Reilly of Carlow Weather says the sun will continue to shine for the weekend;

"It's certainly going to be a lovely weekend the only downside will be it will be very breezy today and if you're lucky enough to live within 5 kilometres of a beach on the south coast or the east coast it will be a bit cooler there."

Fire warning

Meanwhile people are being told not to light fires or have barbecues on forest lands or other high risk areas.

A red forest fire warning is in place, meaning there's an extreme fire risk, with easy ignition and rapid spread.

The alert will remain in place until Monday.
