An animal sanctuary based in Ballymun is appealing to the public to help it find a new base.

Dogs Aid has been providing a free clinic in Finglas every Tuesday night for the past 25 years.

Three vets and the owner of the sanctuary, Maggie, help look after over 60 animals.

The area has no veterinary clinic, so Dogs Aid carries out vital life saving operations.

Because of an issue with their premises, Dogs Aid has been forced to work out of a van.

It had to move from its previous base which is to be demolished, and a new place has now fallen through.

Staff were forced to put two dogs down on the side of the road, which they say was horrific for everyone involved.

A spokesperson for Dogs Aid said "We desperately need new premises, a bit of land or a unit and we have money, so rent isn't an issue."

Volunteer Aine McAnally says they haven't managed to secure a new premises yet, and is appealing to anyone who can help them to contact them.
