Dublin's Luke Kelly statue has been vandalised for the sixth time.

Gardaí are investigating after white paint was thrown on the marble head on Guild Street yesterday.

The tribute to the late Dubliners singer was only installed a year and a half ago but has been targeted a number of times since.

The bust was unveiled by President Michael D Higgins in January 2019, close to where the folk musician grew up.

Meanwhile the city's other tribute to the singer on South King Street has also had white paint thrown on it.

It happened in the early hours of this morning.

The bronze sculpture was also installed in January last year.

No arrests have been made in connection with the latest incident on Guild Street.

Two men were arrested earlier this month in relation to two separate incidents of vandalism to the marble statue in January and March.

Two investigations have been launched by Gardaí.
