Young people are being advised to get vaccinated against COVID-19, after new research shows vaccine hesitancy is highest among 18 to 34-year-olds.
The survey, carried out by Ipsos MRBI for the Irish Pharmaceutical Healthcare Association, shows hesitancy is holding steady at around 8% in that age group.
The research found that 4% of people are unsure about taking a vaccine.
Bernard Mallee, Director of Communications and Advocacy at the IPHA, said they're urging everyone to get vaccinated to "maximise protection in the community".
He said: "Vaccination is reducing serious illness, hospitalisations and mortality caused by the pandemic.
"Hesitancy is proportionally small, but it's still important it's unlocked.
"Unless everyone in the community who are eligible are vaccinated, we have a risk that the situation will further deteriorate over the next number of weeks."
It comes as the latest HSE figures show there are now just under 500 people in hospital with COVID-19.
There were 497 patients in hospital this morning, up from 473 yesterday.
