Two people have been killed in a fire in Gort, Co. Galway overnight.
The blaze broke out at Tom O'Donnell's Flats on Railway Road shortly before 3 o'clock this morning.
Two bodies were recovered after the fire was brought under control and taken to University Hospital Galway where post mortems will be carried out later.
One of them was a 38-year-old local man, while the other is yet to be identified.
It's understood no one else was in the building at the time.
Gardaí have preserved and sealed-off the scene and are awaiting the arrival of technical experts as they begin to investigate the cause of the fire.
