Two people have appeared in court charged in connection with an investigation into the murder of a man in Dublin last year.

Mark Casserly and Lacey O’Connor, both from Rowlagh Park in Clondalkin, are accused of perverting the course of justice.

Wayne Whelan’s body was found in the passenger seat of a burning car in Mount Andrew, Lucan on November 18th last.

A post mortem revealed he’d been shot a number of times.

28 year old Lacey O’Connor appeared in court today charged with perverting the course of justice in the context of giving what she’s alleged to have known was a false account of the movements of a suspect.

Det Sergeant John Conway told the court the DPP had directed for her to be tried before judge and jury in a higher court.

Mark Casserly is facing two charges of the same offence faced by Ms. O’Connor, but they’re alleged to have taken place on separate dates in December of last year.

Det Garda Marcus Roantree also made no objection to him being granted bail, and both are due back in court in July.
