Two men have appeared in court in connection with an assault that led to the death of a young man in Tallaght.
Dale Creighton died in hospital after he was attacked in the early hours of New Year's Day.
20-year-old Dale Creighton never regained consciousness after being subjected to a savage beating on a footbridge on St Dominic's Road in Tallaght just four hours after ringing in the new year.
He lost his fight for life the following day.
Two men arrested in connection with his death appeared before Judge Anthony Halpin at Tallaght District Court this morning.
24-year-old Gerard Stevens and 20-year-old Jason Beresford, both from the Tallaght area, were charged with violent disorder.
It brings to eight the total number of people charged in relation to what Judge Halpin described as a "wasteful and tragic loss of life".
The District Court Judge went on to call for the immediate closure of the footbridge and for plans to be put in place for it to be demolished.
He described it as an "unholy health risk" and a "danger to the community".
Both Stevens and Beresford have been granted bail pending their next court appearance on January 16th.
