41-year-old Anthony Carolan and 50-year-old James Byrne appeared before Dublin District Court this weekend

The two men appeared before Judge John Brennan at Dublin District Court yesterday and today.

They were 44 year old Anthony Carolan, a pizza deliveryman from Gardiner Street in Dublin 1 and 50 year old James Byrne, a painter decorator from Cadogan Road in Dublin 3.

The two alleged burglars tried to break into the Iveagh Medical Centre in Crumlin on Friday using a credit card.

During the break in, they were confronted by a GP who worked in the centre which led them to flee the scene.

Mr Carolan made no reply when charged, while Mr Byrne claimed he wasn't aware a burglary was about to take place.

It was alleged that "one kept watch" while the other entered and took €410 from a cash box in the reception area.

The pair, who get social welfare, have been granted legal aid.

They will appear again at Cloverhill District Court later this week.
