Gardaí believe two men charged in connection with a €2.5m cocaine seizure over the weekend were the drivers of two lorries used to transport the drugs.
The men were remanded in custody following court appearances earlier today, and will appear in court again later this week.
On Saturday afternoon, three men were arrested when Gardaí stopped a number of vehicles in the Blakes Cross area of north county Dublin.
Cocaine worth an estimated €2.5m was seized, and two of the men appeared in court this morning.
Dmitrys Vens kovics, a 44 year old Latvian man, is alleged to have been the driver of a lorry that brought the drugs to a filling station in Lusk, where it’s claimed they were then transferred to another lorry, allegedly driven by his co-accused 58 year old Charles Coyle, with an address in Cootehill, Co. Cavan.
Mr. Coyle will be allowed take up bail if he can find a €25,000 independent surety, while his co-accused plans to apply for bail later in the week.
Both were remanded in custody until Friday.
