Two entrances to Dublin’s Phoenix Park will be closed for a number of days next week, as teams continue to refurbish the gates.
Ashtown Gate will close on Tuesday and stay shut until July 5th while the Castleknock entrance will be closed from Wednesday until July 12.
The gates were removed ahead of Pope Francis’ open air mass in the park in 2018.
The Office of Public Works decided to take the removal as an opportunity to restore the entrances.
The project, which as been ongoing since then, has faced a number of delays and progress was slowed due to Covid-19 restrictions.
Pedestrian access will remain open and the OPW say if the works are completed quicker than expected, the gates will reopen sooner.
