A student from Trinity College has died during a kayaking trip in the US.
Ella Mills, who was studying at Columbia University, died in the incident in Washington DC on Sunday afternoon.
The third year Trinity College student had arrived in New York earlier this month.
In a statment, the university said she is survived by her parents, brother, and sister.
A reflection service to remember her was held at the university yesterday evening.
A spokesperson for Trinity College said ''The Trinity College Dublin community is grieving the tragic loss of Ella Mills, an English Studies student who passed away on 17 September 2023. Ella was studying at Columbia University as part of a dual B.A. programme with Trinity. Her family, friends and classmates are in our minds at this difficult time.''
