The permanent pedestrianisation of Dublin city's Capel Street looks set to go ahead next month.
That's despite warnings from local businesses that the plan could result in objections and legal action.
The latest round of consultation on making the north inner city street car free found 91 per cent of people are in favour of the changes.
In an update to councillors, Dublin city council is recommending implementing the plan that will ban traffic, with deliveries allowed between 6am and 11am.
Businesses had called for compromise and for the changes to only kick in after 7.30pm in the evening. Some had warned the move could lead to court challenges.
However, the council says there has been significant consultation and that it believes there's sufficient consensus to make it work.
DCC say the changes, that will involve temporary bollards, will be constantly monitored and reviewed at the end of the summer.
Councillors will discuss the plan at a meeting tomorrow.
