An investigation is underway after a tourist was robbed at gunpoint near the Guinness Storehouse.

It happened at around 6pm on Monday evening at Longs Place in the south inner city.

Two men armed with what is believed to be a gun, allegedly stole a phone during the incident. It's unclear if the gun was real or a replica.

No one was injured and no arrests have been made.

Gardaí say investigations are ongoing. It's believed CCTV footage and a video taken on a phone are being studied by officers.

Dublin Garda and GRA representative, Damien McCarthy, says there's been a spike in violent crime;

"The fact of the matter is is that people are being robbed at gunpoint in broad daylight in the capital, and I think there needs to be an intervention at this point because what's happening outside of all of this, we have a serious problem within the Garda Síochána in terms of budgets."
