More people have been killed in the first three weeks of this year, than the first three months of last year.
Eight people have been killed so far in 2014 compared to six in the first quarter of last year.
Five of those have been in Dublin, the latest was a shooting in Tallaght last night.
Gardai in Dublin are continuing to investigating at the scene on Bohernabreena Road.
It's understood the man, who's in his early 30s, may have been shot.
