Snow Patrol, Wild Youth and the Arctic Monkeys were among last night's main stage attractions.
The Laois venue was subject to three weather warnings over the weekend. Posts online ranged from photos of miserable people in wet tents to others having the time of their lives in the rain.
Despite the bad weather, Festival Director Melvin Benn said this year's picnic was "absolutely glorious" after the last two years were cancelled because of Covid.
He also said that he thought the HSE pilot drug testing scheme was a success;
"We have been putting some messages out where the HSE have advised us they’ve had a pill or a drug handed in or confiscated that consider to be more dangerous than usual and we have been able to publicise that and that has to be a good thing."
