Met Eireann issued the thunderstorm warning for Munster, Leinster, Connacht, Donegal, Monaghan and Cavan yesterday evening.
Thundery downpours are likely at times which may lead to spot flooding in places but the showers will start to die away later this evening.
Harm Luijkx is from Met Eireann.
"All the ingredients are there again for potentially heavy, thundery downpours this afternoon" he said.
"Already we see showers bubbling up in the south, and they look like they're going to be intense already".
"So people maybe warned that there could be intense downpours locally with spot flooding and it could be widespread" he added.
