NUI Maynooth, DCU and DIT have made the worlds top 100 young colleges list.
The Time Higher Education 100 Under 50 League, ranks NUI Maynooth at number 67 followed by DCU at 92.
DIT is 94th in the poll after entering the list the first time.
The 100 Under 50 uses the same list of 13 performance indicators that underpin the annual World University Rankings.
However it adapts the methodology to better capture the characteristics of young institutions.
The criteria used includes research income, reputation for teaching, number of PhDs awarded, the number and quality of scholarly papers and citations from staff.
