Thousands have gathered on O'Connell Street to welcome Team Ireland home from the Olympics.

Irish athlete brought home seven medals from Paris.

It's Ireland's best ever games.

They were greeted at Dublin Airport - and are now at the official homecoming ceremony outside the GPO.

Speaking at the Airport, Limerick Athlete Sarah Lavin said the welcome in the terminal was "so touching."

Traffic

A number of traffic diversions are in place to facilitate the Olympic homecoming on O'Connell Street.

Dublin City Council, Gardaí, LUAS and the bus operators have joined together to work around the event.

O'Connell Street is closed to traffic until 5.30pm, with one lane re-opening from then until 10.30pm.

A series of diversions are in place around the local area, with northbound traffic being sent towards Eden Quay.

Southbound traffic is being moved to Cathal Brugha Street and Gardiner Street or Marlborough Street.

The LUAS Green Line is not serving stops between Dominick and Stephen's Green, but is working as normal in other areas.

Meanwhile on the Red Line, stops from Smithfield to The Point are closed - with the rest of the line not affected.

Dublin Bus has also published a long list of diversions for routes that would usually serve O'Connell Street.

That's available on the website.
