The cinema at The Square in Tallaght is re-opening.

It's expected to be open in time for Christmas, having shut down over a year ago.

The cinema is currently being refurbished, and the news follows the announcement two weeks ago that Penneys is opening a branch in the Dublin shopping centre.

Irish cinema chain Movies@ is set to open its doors at The Square Town Centre Tallaght in time for the Christmas 2021 film schedule. The new cinema joins their other Dublin locations at Dundrum and Movies Swords.

Managing Director for the Movies@ Group, Graham Spurling says: "The cinema is being completely refurbished from top to bottom and re-equipped with incredible laser projection, surround sound equipment and each of the 13 screens are also being fitted out with super comfortable luxury seating options including electric recliners and our twin seat sofas, to offer an unrivalled out of home experience. This together with the redesigned foyer including a wide range of snacking options and our brand-new artisan coffee offering will make everyone feel like they have the red-carpet treatment from the minute they arrive."

Marcus Wren of Sigma Retail Partners, Asset Manager for The Square Town Centre, says: "Finding the right cinema partner for The Square Town Centre was very important to us, our customers and for the continued success of the shopping centre. We have been working hard over the past year to ensure we secured the best possible operator for The Square Town Centre, and we are absolutely delighted that such an established cinema group will be joining our tenant line up including Penneys who will be opening their new store with us next year."
