The Environment Minister is giving his full backing for plans to allow up to 3,000 diners in Temple Bar.
Plans for outdoor dining on 17 streets will be submitted to Dublin City Council.
These preliminary plans propose to use outdoor tables and chairs to accommodate up to 3,000 people in Temple Bar.
Pedestrian squares, loading bays, road and path space would all be used to optimize the potential.
According to the Irish Times, Fleet Street would have the largest number of diners at 820.
More people outside could lead to more litter which has been a problem in Dublin in recent weeks.
5 million euro has now been allocated nationwide for more bins and awareness campaigns to get people to dispose of their rubbish carefully.
Plans for Temple Bar will now be submitted to Dublin City Council - which last year refused to allow street furniture in parts of the area.
