A teenager has been killed in a crash, involving a scrambler bike and a car, in Dublin.

It happened on Citywest Avenue about 8 o'clock on Sunday night.

A man in his teens, who was driving the scrambler, was taken to Tallaght Hospital, where he later died.

A post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

There were no other injuries reported.

The road has reopened after a technical examination of the scene - and Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has camera footage from the area is asked to contact Gardaí.

A Garda statement reads: "Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 7.45pm and 8.15pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.

"Anyone with any information is asked to contact Tallaght Garda Station on (01) 6666000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station."
