Fresh attempts are being made to save Electric Picnic.

The Tánaiste wants the event to go ahead, after Laois County Council said yesterday it's not possible to revisit the organiser's application, which was rejected.

However the question is, will he, and 37,000 others who work in the sector, get any chance to do it again this year?

Seanad Leader, Fine Gael's Regina Doherty, says it's a real shame this wasn't sorted out earlier in the summer.

Fianna Fail TD for Cork East, James O'Connor says if the local authority in Laois can't host it, then the organisers should up sticks and move. He thinks large sports clubs could help out.

Meanwhile, thousands of promoters, performers, singers, stage builders, sound technicians and others are left in limbo.
