A task force to deal with fireworks being set off across Dublin is to be set up.
It follows an emergency motion that was approved by city councillors this week.
It's expected it will involve Gardaí, the fire brigade and the local authority and follows reports of bangers being put through letter boxes and rockets aimed at people out walking.
Sinn Féin councillor Daithí Doolan says they need to stop fireworks being brought into the capital;
"It sends out a clear message that time is up for those involved in buying, selling or distributing fireworks. Communities across Dublin have been terrorised by fireworks since August" he said.
Councillor Doolan went on to say that Gardaí need to be properly resourced to respond swiftly; "too many calls from the public are met with apologies that the Gardaí have no personnel or no cars available. This is unacceptable."
