Tara Street Fire Station is set to be renamed after the late fireman Willie Bermingham.
Dublin City Council have voted to bestow the title to Mr Bermingham who worked in the station and set up ALONE in the 1970's.
Originally he was shortlisted for the renaming of the Liffey Bridge and narrowly missed out on the honour.
Willie's son, also called Willie, said that his father worked hard to support vulnerable people living in squalid conditions in the capital.
