Younger people need to be vaccinated quicker to protect against the Delta variant, according to the Taoiseach.
Micheál Martin has said NIAC will examine approving the AstraZeneca or Johnson and Johnson vaccines for use in younger age groups.
The race now very much seems to be between the spread of the Delta variant and the vaccination programme, with Taoiseach Micheál Martin admitting as much in Brussels this morning.
He said something that could help is if AstraZeneca and Johnson and Johnson gets approved for use in younger age groups.
At present the roll-out is set to slow significantly next month due to limitations around what vaccines can be used.
Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan has asked NIAC to give advice on the issue.
