The Taoiseach has said he can't rule out further Covid-19 restrictions in the coming weeks.
Last night a new midnight curfew for the hospitality sector was announced along with changes to self isolation rules for households.
Changes
-Pubs, restaurants and nightclubs will have closing hours of midnight from Thursday
-People will be advised to work from home wherever possible from Friday
-An entire household will have to restrict movements for five days if there's a confirmed case in the home, pending completion of antigen tests
-A booster vaccine campaign for over 50s and those aged 16 to 59 with an underlying condition has been confirmed
-Vaccine certs won't be required for hairdressers and gyms as recommended by NPHET, but will now be mandatory for all cinemas and theatres
Ministers were given a stark warning about the impact of Covid on hospitals and ICU admissions over the coming weeks.
4,407 new cases of the virus were confirmed yesterday, while 614 patients are being treated in Irish hospitals.
Micheál Martin says the Government will have to keep its options open on further restrictions;
"NPHET have put in a caveat also that further measures can not be ruled out, can be very honest about that."
