A jury in the trial of a man accused of shooting a father in front of his partner and young son in Tallaght is due to begin hearing evidence today.

Earlier this week, Eugene Cullen from Derry Road, Crumlin pleaded not guilty to murdering Seamus O'Byrne almost five years ago.

Seamus 'Shay' O'Byrne was shot dead outside his home in Tallaght on the evening of March 13th 2009.

He was gunned down in front of his girlfriend, who was also injured in the attack, and their baby who was sitting in the car at the time.

Three years later, Eugene Cullen was arrested and charged with his murder.

Two days ago, the 30-year-old Crumlin man pleaded not guilty at the Central Criminal Court.

A jury of five men and seven women was then sworn in for his trial.

They're due to begin hearing evidence later this morning and have been told the trial is likely to last around four weeks.
