A meeting between Tallaght hospital management and unions to address overcrowding has been described as positive.
Staff were given reassurances about recruitment at the facility with a commitment to increase nursing levels in order to ensure patient safety.
It comes after some non-urgent surgery and day case procedures were cancelled because of overcrowding at the emergency department.
Ten extra nursing staff will being work on Monday and over the coming weeks 13 care assistants and 19 specialist nurses will also be assigned to duties at the hospital.
