The coast guard says a swimmer has been rescued from the water at the Forty Foot in Sandycove and has been taken to hospital in a very serious condition.
Emergency services responded to calls from members of the public yesterday evening.
Teams from Rescue 116, the gardai, ambulance personnel, and Dublin Fire Bridade attended the scene.

The coast guard is advising people to take care in the water, warning that conditions were not ideal for swimming due to easterly winds.
