The President will attend the USI's Student Achievement Awards in Dublin Castle this evening.
The ceremony acknowledges the work being done by third-level students for the benefit of their college, community and country.
25 Awards will be handed out in categories including student campaigns, activism, media, volunteering and community engagement.
Hundreds of students from across the country will attend tonight's ceremony where Michael D Higgins will present "The President's Ethics Award".
