10,000 buildings are without power as Storm Ciara continues to batter the country.

In Dublin, Blanchardstown is the worst affected area, where more than 2200 homes have no electricity.

ESB Networks says it's working to repair faults as quickly as possible, but they expect more outages.

There is also spot flooding on a number of routes across Dublin.

Drivers are being reminded to take extra care throughout this morning and today.

Strong winds and driving rain are forecast to last until midday.

Gusts of up to 130 kilometres per hour are expected.

There is a significant risk of coastal flooding, especially along western and northwestern coasts.

Storm Ciara has also caused delays and cancellations to flights arriving and departing from Dublin Airport.

Passengers are being advised to check with their airline before heading to the airport.
