The third stage of the Giro d'Italia has crossed the finish line in Dublin.

200 élite cyclists came from Armagh, through Dundalk and Drogheda, finishing up in Dublin's Merrion Square at around 4:20pm.

Marcel Kittel of Germany came out on top again in this stage, having previously won the second stage of the race.

Thousands of people lined the streets to catch a glimpse of the race, which Fáilte Ireland's described as "publicity you can't buy".

Roads closed during the race should be reopened but the Merrion Square area, Mount St Upper and Fitzwilliam St Lower will remain closed until 11pm tonight.

Dublin Bus is advising passengers to check their website for diversions to their route before travelling into the city.
