A southside teenager who admitted trying to kill a 17-year-old is due to be sentenced today.
Tadhg Costello of Richmond Hill, Monkstown stabbed his victim six times in the back as he left a city nightclub in May 2012.
On May 30th 2012, Josh Leahy went to the Lost Society nightclub on South William Street with two friends.
They left after closing time and made their way up Grafton Street when a group of eight people began shouting at them.
Mr. Leahy said he knew one of them as his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend.
A row broke out and the then 17-year-old was stabbed repeatedly in the back.
He was rushed to hospital where he was treated for a collapsed lung and had a chest drain inserted.
One of Leahy's friends joined Gardai on a patrol of the area and Tadhg Costello was arrested.
Costello had originally denied the charge but changed his plea to guilty just five days into his trial last November.
The 18-year-old is due to be sentenced today.
