A bin bag ban in Dublin's south inner city comes into force from today.
Businesses and residents on 90 streets face fines of €150 if they don't comply.
Since 2016, around a thousand streets in the city have been allowed to continue putting out plastic bin bags because their properties didn't have space for wheelie bins.
However the city council announced last year that it was cracking down on the practice, with full compliance expected on 90 streets around Temple Bar and Grafton Street from today.
It's part of efforts to keep the city cleaner and stop foxes, seagulls and rats from ripping open plastic sacks. An extra 100 operational council staff are being brought in as part of the changes.
There are plans to extend the ban to parts of the north inner city in the coming months.
