Some Dublin hotels are charging €2,000 for a one-night stay, during St. Patrick's weekend, according to the Sunday Times.
The massive prices come on foot of the government decision to extend the 9% VAT rate for the sector.
It was due to be restored to 13.5%, but the coalition decided to extend it for another 6 months - due to the cost of living crisis.
Speaking to the paper, Minister for State, Niall Collins slammed the increases, noting it was a slap in the face of government.
