A soldier, who was charged with assaulting his girlfriend, has been granted bail.
The alleged incident happened at Cathal Brugha Barracks in Rathmines, in the early hours of yesterday morning.
23 year old Darragh Baldrick, who is based at Cathal Brugha Barracks, was charged with assault causing harm at Rathmines Garda Station.
He’s accused of attacking his girlfriend at the Army Barracks in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Today, the court granted him bail, on the condition that he stays away from his partner’s home and does not make any contact with her, including on social media.
Mr Baldrick’s defense team sought reporting restrictions on the case but they were not granted with Judge Brendan O’Reilly noting that that was ‘stretching it a bit’.
Darragh Baldrick is due before the courts again on the 5th of July, where the DPP will give direction on the case.
