Despite being completed last year, a housing estate in south Dublin is relying on slurry tankers to remove it’s sewage.
More than a hundred homes are waiting to be connected to the mains network.
Irish Water says its in the process of upping capacity in the Rathfarnham area – with works due to be completed next year.
In the meantime to allow these new houses to be occupied - slurry tankers are being used to bring sewage from the White Pines estate to a treatment plant elsewhere.
The works are due to be completed during the first half of next year when the estate will be connected to the main sewer network.
