Sinn Féin says its wants the Education Minister to guarantee the safety of pupils and staff ahead of the new school year.
It's after structural flaws were identified in 17 school buildings in addition to the 22 others where defects were uncovered last year.
Remedial works will now be carried out in the coming weeks.
The party's education spokesperson Donnchadh Ó Laoghaire says its time for Minister Joe McHugh to explain the nature of the works.
"I think the Minister now and the contractor, Western Building Systems, need to come out and state very clearly whether there are any other buildings that are potentially affected by this," he says.
"We also need the Department to bring forward and publish as soon as possible its report into procurement and tendering for buildings, because there clearly [were] failings in the tendering process that this was allowed to happen."
