More than thirty per cent of people could avoid paying bank charges, if they shopped around.
That's according to a survey for the National Consumer Agency which shows that nearly 60 per cent of account holders haven't checked with another bank to see if they can get a better deal on their current account.
One in 7 of those questioned also said they didn't know if their bank was charging them fees for transactions.
