The owner of the Shelbourne Park greyhound racing track wants to develop the Dublin 4 site for housing.
The move could spell the end of greyhound racing in the capital, as it follows the 2017 closure of the Harold's Cross stadium.
The Irish Times reports Pembroke Estates Management has urged Dublin City Council to assign residential zoning to the land it owns within the stadium grounds.
That's despite Greyhound Racing Ireland, which runs the industry, having plans to start work next year on a “state-of-the-art investment” in the Shelbourne Park stadium and track.
It's estimated the lands have the potential to accommodate over 750 homes.
