The Minister for Justice has told senior Gardaí that internal whistleblowers must be listened to.
Alan Shatter has told the Association of Garda Superintendents that there are management issues within the force which must be addressed.
The minister says anyone raising an issue about the internal management of the force must be taken seriously.
And he says nobody should be cynical about the reasons why a Garda might become a whistleblower:
