A silver SUV could hold the key to finding who shot John Gilligan.
The vehicle is believed to have been used by two masked men to make their getaway after they opened fire on the convicted criminal.
The pair entered the home of Mr Gilligan's brother in Greensfort Crescent in Clondalkin on Saturday evening.
The 61 year old was shot several times and rushed to Connolly hospital in Blanchardstown, where he underwent emergency surgery.
