School buses are set to operate at full capacity when schools reopen.
There will be no reduction in numbers as a result of covid-19.
An exception to the social distancing rule is being made for school buses because pupils are being pre-assigned seats next to a sibling or a child from their class group.
Maeve Fanning is President of the National Parents Council Post Primary.
She says children from different schools are often on the same bus;
"They're kids are going to school on a bus that is servicing maybe three or four different schools. There are going to be concerns out there and especially now as we have a slight increase in covid numbers."
Schools are due to get back up and running at the end of the month after shutting in March because of the pandemic.
